Tri-State Memorial Hospital welcomes three new physicians this summer!

Tri-State Memorial Hospital will welcome three new physicians to their Family Practice locations in August and September. Two of the three physicians will join the Tri-State Family in August, while the third physician will begin in early September. Tri-State Memorial Hospital’s new physicians include Joel Woodruff, MD, Garrett Mockler, MD and Nolan Derr, MD.
“Tri-State is committed to expanding access of primary care in our community,” said Joleen Carper, Chief of Clinic Services, at Tri-State Memorial Hospital. “We have seen the need, and we want the community to know that we will continue to address health issues within our community as we see them arise.”
Joining the Tri-State Family in August:
Joel Woodruff, MD, received his Doctorate of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Portsmouth, Dominica, West Indies, in 2016. He went on to complete his Family Medicine residency at the University of North Dakota in Minot, North Dakota, in 2020. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Family Medicine is built around a social unit – the family. Family Physicians are trained with the intent to be able to deal with the entire spectrum of medical issues that might be encountered by the members of a family unit.1 Dr. Woodruff is seeing patients of all ages when joining the Tri-State Family!

Dr. Woodruff will begin seeing patients early August.
Garrett Mockler, MD, received his Doctorate of Medicine from the Trinity School of Medicine in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, in 2016. He completed his residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Rural Family Medicine, where he spent time in Omaha and North Platte, Nebraska. Upon arrival at Tri-State Memorial Hospital, Garrett Mockler will start a hybrid fellowship program in Integrative Medicine.
Integrative Medicine uses both western and eastern medical treatments in caring for the whole patient. Evidence-based treatment is personalized to best address the patient’s unique conditions.

Joining the Tri-State Family in September:
Nolan Derr, MD, received his Doctorate of Medicine from the American University of the Caribbean located in St. Maarten, in 2017. He went on to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio, in 2020. While in residency, he served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Wright State University in Ohio.
Internal Medicine physicians apply scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the diagnostic, treatment, and compassionate care of adults across the spectrum from health to complex illness. They are especially well trained in the diagnoses of puzzling medical problems, ongoing care of chronic illnesses, and caring for patients with more than one disease.2

Dr. Derr will begin seeing patients September.
About Tri-State Family Practice:
Tri-State’s Family Practice clinics include three locations spanning across the Lewis-Clark Valley. With the additional physicians beginning in August, Tri-State’s Family Practice and Internal Medicine physician and provider staff will consist of 22 providers by September. Tri-State’s primary care physicians and providers care for patients of all ages.
